Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday,
Christened on a stark and stormy Tuesday,
Married on a gray and grisly Wednesday,
Took ill on a mild and mellow Thursday,
Grew worse on a bright and breezy Friday,
Died on a gay and glorious Saturday,
Buried on a baking, blistering Sunday.
That was the end of Solomon Grundy.
If anyone knows where I got this from, I will be impressed.

Well, I knew it was a nursery rhyme, but it was slightly different then I remembered it. I will admit I googled it from there, and figured out why I was confused... This isn't the original version that was first published in 1842. But still, it's good... I like it was literature references old school random-information-type things.
ReplyDeleteSame thing goes with the Babylon Candle from Stardust. If you read the book it explains it much better by reciting the rhyme:
"How many miles to Babylon?
Three-score and ten.
Can I get there by candle-light?
Yes, there and back again.
If your heels are nimble and light,
You will get there by candle-light."
I read that and was like "OH! I forgot about that rhyme! Now the idea of a Babylon Candle makes so much more sense!"
hahaha. very interesting, I didn't know that. That's pretty cool.
